Bell metal is a bronze alloy traditionally used for making bells ring with a musical resonance, the alloy is copper and tin (4:1), the addition of tin has a low dampening which extended the resonance and toll of the bells.  This alloy was also used because it stood up to fatigue which made it ideal for the manufacture of cannons.

Bell metal has been used for various decorative applications including sculpture, eating utensils and traditionally candlesticks.
