A stylish silver circular dish with a shallow bowl on plain foot by John Grenville,
hallmarked London 1957.

John Grenville b. 1918 d.2004 studied painting at the Farnham School of Art between 1938 and 1940 and after war service, silversmithing at the Central School of Arts and Crafts from 1945 until 1947. In the 1950s he ran a London workshop and in 1966, he moved to Broxford in Suffolk where he opened a shop. He executed many church silver commissions for East Anglican dioceses in an elegant, modernist style and has a chalice and paten by him in the V&A.
He was a founding member of the Sufflok Craft society.
