The interior includes three banks of sliding drawers and faux drawers for the storage of tools over two sliding trays to compartment below. The chest has rope carrying handles to each side and stands upon a plinth base.

The quality of the cabinetwork on this tool chest gives an example of the quality of the work achievable by the cabinetmaker who owned it, all the tools had their place for transporting the workshop between onsite jobs.
