Lowback ash and elm Windsor chair
This design with the pierced back, turned supports and the curved crinoline stretcher is typical of the Midlands of England.
English, circa 1830

Condition: Retaining some of the original red paint finish to the seat, wonderful rich colour to the arms and back. An old repair to the rear leg with screws to both rear legs, but this repair has been part of this chair for many years and it is sound.  The crinoline stretcher is also slightly misshapen and is secured with a screw.

The Windsor chair was typical seating for English taverns and kitchens.
