Officer’s Mess silver table lighter
A wonderful Officer’s Mess silver table lighter in the form of a Victorian grenade.
It is designed to be filled with a flammable liquid, lit and placed on the dining table. When needed it would be slid across the surface to where it was required. It is therefore weighted at the bottom so although the grenade will wobble, it will not fall over. The flaming grenade motif has long been used by various regiments of the British military including the Grenadier Guards, the Royal Engineers, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and the Royal Artillery.
